Ipswich has always been a formidable industrial area, and glassblowing is a distinctly industrial art form.
With the encouragement of Ipswich's arts community, artist Mark George has gained the confidence to explore beyond his glassblowing by participating in workshops and masterclasses outside of Queensland, furthering his practice and skillset.
Through Mark’s glassblowing journey, the support and inclusiveness of the region is now reflected in his glasswork, which incorporates a variety of tools, colours, and techniques. Mark dreams of one day establishing his own hot shop studio in the Ipswich area to showcase this beautiful art form.
