An exhibition stemming from workshops and collaborations aimed at strengthening ties with First Nations heritage and exploring a theme ‘proud through identity.’
Sarima Chong, artist, designer, and proud Mulinjarli, Walkaman, Wangarbarra and Yidinji woman, worked with young Aboriginal women from Bremer High School, tiddas from Hymba Yumba Independent School, and local elders to deliver a program that connects participants to cultural knowledge and connection as well as empowering contemporary identity through art and design.
The results of the workshops are displayed in various forms, including painting, fashion, and an exquisite possum skin cloak made by Chong with the tiddas from Hymba Yumba.
