‘Beyond Words’ presents the artistic journey of local artist Reg P Smith, delving into life's absurdities through a series of abstract oil paintings.
Smith's exploration navigates the intersection between the natural beauty of landscapes and a profound understanding of the human experience, weaving together personal struggles and triumphs.
Inspired by the philosophical theory of Absurdism, the exhibition challenges viewers to open their minds and embrace the inherent absurdity of life. Smith uses oil paints and raw pigment powders, experimenting with various tools to create signature lines, depth, and textures.
The colour palette, drawn from raw emotions and memories, captures the essence of shared experiences, emotions, and challenges. Each artwork is a meticulously planned yet spontaneously executed journey into the subconscious realm of our fundamentally absurd human existence, offering a profound reflection on purpose, meaning, and our cosmic insignificance. Through his art, Smith aims to dismantle societal facades and prompt a revaluation of our search for meaning in a seemingly chaotic universe.
