Katie Bourchier is an Australian contemporary jeweller and object-based artist working across adornment, relic and small-scale sculpture.
Her practice explores jewellery as a critical and sculptural language concerned with embodiment, mythology and otherness, using ornament as a framework to question scale, power and identity. Drawing on ancient craft traditions, feminist narratives and speculative cosmologies, Bourchier’s work repositions jewellery as both an object of intimacy and an agent of disruption.
Based in Ipswich, Queensland, her recent relocation has deeply influenced her focus on continuity, memory and communal making. Working primarily in sterling silver and bronze, she creates talismanic forms that move between the human and the mythic, the private and the monumental.
Her practice operates between gallery contexts and public engagement, expanding jewellery into a speculative, collaborative field where ornament becomes social sculpture and collective storytelling.
