Jude Muduioa is a ceramic artist who uses repetition and componentry to represent community and talk about identity.
Her practice is a meditation on identity, community and belonging, shaped by the experience of living between cultures. Working primarily with clay, she uses making as a way to navigate the in-between spaces formed by migration, spaces where language, memory and place shift and overlap. Clay becomes both anchor and interpreter, allowing her to work through ideas slowly, through touch, observation and repetition.
She creates objects that, through repetition and abundance, communicate a language of quiet gestures, subtle acts of care, adaptation and resilience. These small, attentive decisions mirror the everyday efforts that sustain communities. Her process is grounded in material exploration and often extends into community engagement, where making becomes a shared act of recognition. Through these clay-based works, she seeks to open space for reflection and connection, inviting others to notice the delicate ties that hold us together despite difference.
