Discover the skills and processes involved in bringing a creature from the written page to the silver screen in this fascinating ‘behind the scenes’ exhibition.

How to Make a Monster features the work of John Cox, Academy Award winner for Visual Effects (1995) for the movie ‘Babe’, and his company John Cox’s Creature Workshop. See how monsters and creatures are designed and story-boarded, maquettes made and then how the full size creatures are sculpted, moulded, and finished. Explore how animatronic components are designed and installed to create the bones and muscles that bring monsters to life. You can even become an animatronic puppeteer!

Investigate animatronic marvels from ‘Pitch Black’, ‘George of the Jungle 2’ and ‘Inspector Gadget’ along with a cast of cuddly and creepy extras from the movies.
