Join Dr Carol McGregor and Kyra Mancktelow as they discuss textile art's capacity to challenge existing histories, build on traditions, and capture the residues and relationality of change in today's shifting society.

Dr Carol McGregor
Magandjin based artist Carol McGregor (Kulin Nation, Scottish) practices across multiple disciplines including textiles, print, paint and sculpture.
McGregor is currently a lecturer at the Queensland College of Art and Design. McGregor has exhibited extensively and her work features in national and international collections including QAGOMA and the National Gallery of Australia. She has also undertaken several artist residencies with the Kluge Ruhe Aboriginal Art Gallery, USA; Tokyo University of the Arts; Bundanon Trust, NSW; Ballarat Heritage Festival and Museum Victoria.

Kyra Mancktelow
Kyra Mancktelow is a proud Quandamooka artist with strong cultural connections to Eulo and the South Sea Islander community of Vanuatu. Her multidisciplinary practice spans printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and bronze casting—each medium offering a unique and distinct aesthetic that brings her stories to life.
Currently undertaking a PhD at Queensland College of Art, Kyra regularly exhibits in both solo and group exhibitions nation wide. Kyra won the 2021 Telstra Emerging Artist Award at The National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards, and a Special Commendation at the 2021 Churchie National Emerging Art Prize.
