Learn the art of metalsmithing with Meekz Contemporary Jewellery!
Guided by jewellery artist Jemica Ostrofski of Meekz Contemporary Jewellery, explore the fundamentals of metalsmithing and learn how to transform recycled metals into your own unique piece of wearable art.
Using recycled aluminium, copper and brass, you can choose to create a pair of earrings, a brooch, a keychain or a necklace. Learn hands-on techniques to shape, texture and bring your design to life, creating a piece that reflects your own style and creativity.
Paticipants will leave the workshop with one finished piece of jewellery that they have made themselves and can be proud to wear!
What to wear: Please wear closed-in shoes and workshop-friendly clothing.
What to bring: Lunch and a water bottle.
Your creativity and any inspiration photos or design ideas you’d like to explore!
Materials: All materials and tools will be provided.
The workshop will include a 30 minute lunch break to bring or grab a meal and socialise with the other attendees.
Please meet at the Ipswich Art Workshop, in d'Arcy Doyle Place.

Jemica Ostrofski (Meekz)
Meekz Contemporary Jewellery is an environmentally sustainable design label, that transforms the everyday into something unique and beautiful, creating pieces that tell a story.
Designed and made by Brisbane silversmith Jemica Ostrofski, she loves drawing inspiration from the urban and natural environment and minimalist geometric forms. Using traditional silversmithing techniques such as hand sawing, soldering, hammer texturing and oxidising, Jemica brings to life her sketched drawings to create statement pieces that can be worn every day.
Inspired to pass on her skills and knowledge, Jemica held her first jewellery-making workshop in 2015. Designed for all skill levels, Jemica’s workshops offer an insight into the life of a jeweller. From private one-on-one sessions to group classes her workshops aim to encourage creativity, confidence and learning while highlighting the importance of sustainability.
