Clay Studio transforms our entire Children’s Gallery space into a ceramic atelier.
Gallery facilitators will guide students through the creative potential of clay. Students will explore traditional and non-traditional forms and develop visual literacy through experimental, process-based, hands-on exploration. Working with clay encourages sensory development, develops coordination and fine motor skills, fosters hand-eye coordination, and helps build focus and attention span. Students can take their clay creation home or leave it on display in one of our collaborative spaces.
Clay Studio is our first kid's program designed to develop visual literacy through experimental, process-based, hands-on exploration of the Elements of Art, line, shape, texture, form, space, colour and value.
Clay Studio has links to specific Australian Curriculum outcomes from Foundation Year through to year 6 (see below), as well as broader conceptual links to the Australian Curriculum with links to mathematics, Science, English, Health and Physical Education and Humanities and Social Sciences.
