Hear Your Weird is a Soft Sculpture Workshop with contemporary artist Hannah Gartside as part of the Ipswich Creators' Summit, hosted by Ipswich Art Gallery.
Step into a world of imagination with celebrated contemporary artist Hannah Gartside in this hands-on creative workshop. Using soft, furry second-hand fabrics, Hannah will guide participants in crafting their own pair of sculptural animal ears; inviting a playful shift in perspective as you tune into your senses, loosen the rules, and explore how animals might listen to and move through our world.
What happens when we slip into a costume and allow ourselves a moment outside everyday expectations? This workshop creates a joyful space to reconnect with curiosity, freedom and embodied creativity, all while learning practical skills in soft sculpture and hand-stitching.
With Easter coming up after the workshop, it’s the perfect time to channel your inner bunny and bring some cuteness overload to your festivities!
What to bring:
- Feel free to bring a hat or cap to attach your ears to on the day, or you’re welcome to collect a printed sewing pattern on the day to make a matching bonnet. (Just a heads‑up: making the bonnet may take longer than the workshop allows, but it can easily be finished at home.)
Materials:
- All fabrics, needles and thread will be provided.
- You’re also welcome to bring your own sewing scissors or any favourite fabrics if you’d like to personalise your project.
NOTE FOR CREATORS' SUMMIT ATTENDEES: You don’t need to book a ticket for this workshop. It is a scheduled session with spaces set aside for Creators’ Summit ticket holders. Please note that capacity is limited, and places will be offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
